Project Overview

A neighborhood school that previously housed John Muir Elementary School (Muir) and the Santa Monica Alternative School House (SMASH) has been redeveloped and updated for 21st century learning. The newly named Ocean Park School House is built on the strengths and values of both (Muir/SMASH) while evolving and expanding to provide the social-emotionally focused and project-based learning model that has existed at the site for decades. Completed in the spring of 2026, the school will welcome new students and staff in the fall of 2026.
