Project Overview

The modernization includes the former library and rooms 218, 220 and 222, being renovated into four new classrooms, two science labs and a shared prep room. Classrooms will be equipped to reflect the current technology standards.  The modernization began in 2nd quarter of 2011 and is estimated to be complete in the 4th quarter of 2011.

Building C will be removed and replaced with a new two-story library and classrooms building that will consist of a new chorus room, six standard classrooms, two science labs, a shared prep room, storage, restrooms and connection to Building E.  The outdoor improvements on campus will include an outdoor classroom with tiered seating and a new parking area with 22 additional spaces.  Construction of new construction is estimated to begin in the first quarter of 2012 and be complete in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Both the Lincoln Middle School Modernization and New Construction Projects reflect Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) criteria through improved day lighting, improved air quality and natural ventilation, maximized energy efficiency, and reduced water use and storm water treatment.

Technology

20 existing classrooms were upgraded to the district’s new technology standards.  The standard includes projectors, document cameras and a sound system with wireless microphones.  One teacher and eight student laptops were provided for 16 science classrooms.  Wireless access points were installed throughout the campus and the phone system was replaced with a new IP telephone system.  The campus network infrastructure was upgraded to one-gigabit bandwidth to support the wireless access and telephone upgrades.
